Welcoming the Stranger with Mountain View United Methodist Church

  • Mountain View United Methodist Church 355 Ponca Place Boulder, CO, 80303 United States (map)

Motus Theater & Mountain View United Methodist Church have a special presentation of our Welcoming the Stranger series on Sunday, January 16th at 9:30am. During this presentation, Rev. Kidwell will stand in the shoes of Cristian Solano-Córdova from Motus’ UndocuAmerica project, by reading aloud his story of enduring courage in the journey across the border, through threats, and towards liberty. The monologue is followed by a musical response from Director of Music & Worship Arts, Brian du Fresne.

After the reading, Pastor Stephanie will share her personal and theological reflections on the impact of reading Christian's story, followed by Christian’s response on having his story read aloud. The entire audience will have an opportunity to express sacred hospitality by reading aloud a short excerpt of Christian’s story and sharing their experiences.

Sponsored by Mountain View United Methodist Church

Autobiographical monologue by Motus Monologist Cristian Solano-Córdova written in collaboration with Motus Theater Artistic Director, Kirsten Wilson. Performance presented by Motus Theater - creators of UndocuAmerica, JustUs, Women of Resolution, Rocks Karma Arrows, and the Shoebox Stories Podcast. *This performance is part of Motus Theater’s Shoebox Stories project and their Welcoming the Stranger series - a collaboration with faith leaders who express moral courage and civic hospitality as they read aloud the story of an undocumented person and reflect both personally and theologically on seeing the world through the eyes of an immigrant.
