Join Motus for an improvisational theater adventure of Power Playback Theater with special guests, award-winning violinist Gregory Walker and slam poet Dominique Christina!
Motus Theater invites you to join us for a special adventure in improvisational theater to support community storytelling on the theme of Caretaking and Care-receiving. Come and share a short reflection or story on how you experience caring for others or receiving care when you need support, and then watch professional playback actors enact YOUR story on the spot using movement, music, and dramatic spoken word.
The stories may be funny or sad; memories from long ago or yesterday. Audience and performers co-create a theater event whose subject is the life experiences of the people attending the show.
Acclaimed violinist Gregory Walker will offer his own musical response to the theme. He is a recipient of the American Academy of Arts and Letters Charles Ives Fellowship and has performed with major orchestras around the world. International slam poet Dominique Christina will offer two poems exploring the relationship between giving and receiving care.
Motus calls these performances “Power Playback Theater,” because there is power within our stories and our truths. Stories are how we share our human adventure - the comedy, tragedy, and resilience of life’s journey.
Join us for an abundant exchange interconnecting our shared humanity through music, story, poetry and improv theater.
