Motus Theater presents a condensed performance of Youth Behind & Beyond Bars, an acclaimed autobiographical storytelling project that brings the lived experiences of people incarcerated as children at the Colorado State Capitol.
This bipartisan event, hosted by Sen. Judy Amabile and Rep. Rick Taggert, invites lawmakers and advocates from our district to engage directly with the long-term impacts of youth incarceration, and the possibilities created when policy invests in prevention, healing, and community-based solutions. This educational morning program brings forward first-person stories from adults who were incarcerated as children, paired with policy-relevant context about the long-term impacts of youth incarceration. The event is designed specifically for legislators and is intentionally concise and respectful of legislative schedules.
